The exhibition catalogue was conceived in close collaboration with the Artistic Director, Massimiliano Gioni, as a visual interpretation of his themes and curatorial practice. Two volumes and a slipcase were published. It was not unlike an exercise in Guilio Camillo’s theaters of memory as he recalled the scope of his vision and the biennale model itself. The exhibition catalogue, was akin to the title, an imaginary museum meant to house all worldly knowledge. The second volume was designed as a template only. Conceived as a companion volume both utilize alphabetical indexing, footer texts, and type that correlate loosely with the Encyclopedia as a format.
